What a supportive wife you are and what a good man you have who has so diligently tried so much.  Sorry that he has not gotten any relief yet.
1- Has he been to at least 2 different psychiatrists who can give a mix of medications?
2- Has he tried any of the MAO Inhibitors?  It is a more unusual anti-depressant due to the dietary restrictions.  (I never felt so great on anything before or since.  Unfortunately I had an unusual side effect.)
3- Don't rule out ECT.  It's not the nightmare that it was previously and is definitely worth a try rather than having a miserable life.
That's all that I know of to suggest. And there are always new medications that come on the market since so very many people suffer from depression.  So don't lose hope.  Wish you the best.  Sara

Hi sounds like you are a very loving person & wife. It's great you understand
depression. I think a person can still work with the PDoc on meds dosages &
drug combinations. You say he's been doing this for 3 yrs. there are people
in my group therapy that are still getting their meds tweaked.
The medical community is also using drugs off label. That's when they find a drug works for something other than originally intended.
Keep the Faith. There is also a free group therapy for family members of mentally depressed persons. Go to N AMI for info on the state you are from.
Your husband will get better. He needs you . Pamela
