Age spots that sting

Hello,

In the last several months i have been getting lots (hundreds) of white spots up and down my legs, most on the inner thigh and backs of my legs. They stung a little at first but are now alot more sensative and when i wear pants it stings badly from the rubbing against the material. I went to my GP who referred me to a Dermatologist and she told me that they were age spots eventhough i am only 38 years old, she said you can get them over the ages of 21. She has given  me all sorts of creams that don't reduce the stinging and she tried to freeze some of the spots on my right leg with the crying method (freeze dry and kill of the spots) and this just seemed to make them even more sensative. I would appreciate any advice you can give me as i am finding it very hard to deal with this situation and no one seems to have a solution. I even tried wearing tight bike pants under my trousers to stop the constant rubbing which was a suggestion from the dermatologist and it was so painfull from the stinging that i felt in constant pain when i walked or sat down.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be pityriasis versicolor. It is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects people, especially in warm and humid climates.

Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment.

If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist.Biopsy of the skin may be needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

i don't think its just age spots... if it cause pain to you its a problem... rarely age spots causes pain... crying method is called... cryotherapy... where is freezes the spot with a cautery machine... i can only suggest a cream to relieve that itch effect and may heal it... use a topical corticosteriod cream( Ask a new dematologist about it)... it is useful to this cases especially for puritic skin diseases...
