Brown stains on palms

Like some of the other people who have inquired on this website, I too have woken up to find strange brown stains on the palm of my hand.  It looks like iodine stains.  My hands are clean when I go to bed the night before, and when I wake up the next morning, the strainge iodine-like staining is there.  It doesn't wash off, but does fade throughout the day.  If I'm not coming into contact with anything during my sleep, what could be causing this?  Could it be a delayed reaction from contact with some substance?  Why the irregular pattern (similar to bruising)?  If I came into contact with something, why isn't my whole hand this colour?

I think I figured my stains out...I was testing the salt level in the pool using silver nitrate...maybe some spilled without me noticing....

Yesterday, I awoke to inexplicable brown stains on my palms for the third time in two months...I don't eat peppers and don't come into contact with chemicals...

I showed my doctor...she had no clue and said she had never seen anything like it....

It's already fading...what is causing this!?

I wish I could add pictures to this post and I wish mine were taken when the coloring was darker still. At first I thought the iodine looking streaks and irregular spots wouldn't wash off, then after days of fading off and on I tried a puma stone and they did. Yes, they do show up in the morning. Why? That seems a mystery.

But, has anyone else noticed that it feels like an intense energy is swirling in the palms of the hands in days leading up to this? It doesn't itch or have any raised quality. Just looks like iodine stains and also has showed up on the ball of my foot. I was able to scrub that one off with the puma stone as well.

It's the peppers! Not sure which colour as I touch all colours. It's not the consuming of them but touching while preparing for me. Thank you for sharing your stories. My mystery is solved! Will let you know what colour does it to me after further investigation!

I just noticed the same rust colored/iodine-looking/brownish orange stains on my hands as everybody else. The last time I ate peppers was about a week ago (both red and yellow). Most other posts seem to indicate they got this reaction soon after eating the peppers

The only thing I've eaten the past 48 hours was two home cooked cheeseburgers with lettuce, tomato & ketchup, and a big bag of fastfood from BK. Hamburger with fixins (L,T,O,Pickle,Mayo,Ketchup), chicken sandwich, onion rings and chicken nuggets. I don't know if BK serves anything with peppers, I might stop by tomorrow and ask out of curiosity.

I hope my delayed reaction doesn't mean anything serious. I'm about to head to bed and I guess we'll see if these stains go away. Many people on here say they fade quickly, a couple said they lasted months. I hope I'm part of the former because this is unnerving.
