Hello,
Molluscum presents as multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug. From the symptoms it can be folliculitis but molluscum needs to be ruled out. Please consult a dermatologist and get it examined.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Thank you, Dr. Kaur. What do you mean though the center is depressed? Most of them appear to have a white head in the center as in a pimple. I read about molloscum and it seems that that usually features of the genitals, is that correct? These are mainly on arms and legs....and around my exczema
Thanks!
Hello,
From the symptoms it can be folliculitis but if the centre is depressed, then molluscum lesions need to be ruled out. Apply some topical antiseptics and warm compresses. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Topical antibiotics such as Neosporin or Bactroban are also useful. If the symptoms persist then please consult a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
