Dry skin near my butt

I am not really sure if this is the correct forum to post this question or not.  I have very dry skin around the area of my butthole.  It is so dry, that it bleeds on occasion and itches like crazy.  I have gone to the Dr. before and have been prescribed creams and pills etc, but no luck.  I have taken an over the counter liquid for pinworms (I know, gross) but that did not work either.  Does anyone else have this issue and what have you done to clear it up?  It is mainly during the evening and night time hours when I am asleep that it happens the worst.  HELP!

Try just a very small amount of Aquaphor. I purchase this in a tube instead of a jar to avoid contamination. It is similar to vaseline but only 41% petroleum & said to allow oxygen through.

I've had a very similar thing at the the base of my lower back, leading down into my bum cheeks.
I still suffer occasionally, but, what works for me is a product called Sudocrem. It's antiseptic healing cream, and is used for :-
Napkin rash, Eczema, Bed sores, Sunburn, Minor burns, surface wounds, Acne and Chilblains.
It comes in a light grey pot with a white and red label. Give it a try. Good luck!

Hi,
This could be an eczema or atopic dermatitis. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes which are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding.

It is basically a skin inflammation which is caused due to genetic predisposition and environmental factors, allergy being the most important factor.
Atopic eczema (atopic dermatitis) is believed to have a hereditary component, and often runs in families whose members also have hay fever and asthma. Itchy rash is particularly noticeable on face and scalp, neck, inside of elbows, behind knees, and buttocks.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid like hydrocortisone or desonide may be used. They do not cure eczema, but are highly effective in controlling or suppressing symptoms in most cases.
You can take anti-histamines like Cetrizine for the itching. It is a chronic condition and there is really no cure for it. It will show periods of remission and flare-ups.
