i have exactly the same thing. I have had awful dandruff for about 6-8 weeks and then 2.5 weeks ago found a swollen lymph node right behind/under my ear. Did you ever find out what it was? I realise i should stop touching mine as i'm sure its not helping it go away, but i can't help it.
Thank you!
My scalp has been itchy my whole life. It has seemed to flared up after giving birth. When I look at it in te mirror it sort of looks like psoriasis of the scalp. Could thy cause swollen lymph nodes too?? I keep thinking I have cancer! The lymph node is swollen behind my ear close to my hairline

Hello,
From the symptoms seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff and tinea capitis need to be ruled out. The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck. Because of the scratching that is involved with the condition it can become secondarily infected with a bacterial infection. Diagnosis is by clinical examination of the scalp as well as a skin lesion biopsy with microscopic examination. Anti-fungal medications, taken by mouth, are used to treat the infection.
It is important to keep the area clean. A medicated shampoo, such as one containing selenium sulfide like selsen may also help. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
