Genital Itching, (Female)

Hello!! I have a terrible itching problem for some time now, atleast since i reached puberty thats around ten years now. I seasonally get it then it goes away after i apply a certain tubed cream called sonaderm (its meant for candid, ezcema n stuff). the itching occurs on the genital parts that is on the outer part of my vagina, on all those soft areas/spots only. the other part of the skin remains ok but only the soft parts of my genitals is the one that itches alot. It doesnt even itch on the inside of the vulva no,only the outer part. It might take a week or more but immediately when i use the cream it stops and stays away from itching like for a whole month. I dont know what it is but it is really frightening me. What is it and what should i do. I'm also scared of the cream if used for long it could have severe side effects on me.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The cream that you are using is steroid cream and from the symptoms it can be eczema skin. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema.

Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
