Genital infection

I have already been to a few doctors about this.  My symptoms are itching and redness around my anus,  itchy and red scrotum, and red areas on my penis.  The first doctor prescribed me Nystatin Cream, and that didnt cure it.  Then i went to my family doctor who did an anal swab and when the test came back it said i had an infection (the girl who called me to tell me never specified what kind of infection) but i was prescribed a fucidin cream.  It is ten days into the treatment and there is way less itching however the redness is still there and what concerns me is that every cream i have tried helps the itching but doesnt cure the infection.  Is it possible that the wrong cream was prescribed to me even though a test was done? Please help me with this issue i have had these symptoms for about 8 months and being a student with no insurance the cost of creams is becoming too much.  What should i do? I am at a loss and have no idea what to do about this anymore.  How long should fucidin take to cure an infection like this? Thanks for taking your time to read this and please get back to me with any answers/ advice that you can.

Hello,

I inquired with my doctors office and they sent me the test results from the swab i had done.  I am into the final week of anti biotics now with little improvment.  The test says, "Moderate gram- positive cocci" and "Moderate gram-negative bacilli." I am having trouble understanding what this means and wondering if you could give me some suggestions of what to ask the doctor when i go next week?  And if you have any idea why the fucidin cream that i was prescribed didnt work.  Remember as well this infection is 7 months old im wondering if it may have built up a defence against certain anti-biotics? Please get back to me it would be greatly appreciated.  I want to know what to ask my doctor next week so I can fix this issue.

Thank you,

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
For your symptoms dermatitis and fungal infection should be ruled out. Since the rash is persisting, so it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get a KOH examination of the skin scrapings done to confirm fungal infection. Treatment consists of topical antifungal cream which may contain miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
