Hair thinning - woman

My hair started slowly thinning around my 29th birthday, and now 4 years later I cannot seem to take a photo without a visible "bald spot" at the crown of my head. My PCP suggests I am running low on biotin, and while I've been taking some OTC I see no difference. She also says my thyroid is fine. What are the best steps to find out what the root of the issue is and how I can stop it? Being so young, at the rate I'm going, I really would like to not lose all of my hair. Also, how does one know if they are a good candidate for a hair replacement procedure (such as taking some roots from the back of my head)?

UPDATE: hair still thinning, anemia ruled out.

I don’t know what’s causing this. And I’ve learned Biotin actually messes with test results.

Thinking of trying Rogaine next.
