Heat rash or something else?

I've had a minor rash show up over this past winter and it has periodically started to get worse. It started off as little faded red circles on my shoulders that seem to get more prominent as my body temperature rises(working, in the shower, exercising) and has seemed to spread more over the past month or so. Now it is on my torso and upper arms as well. They either appear as pinkish clustered circles or white dried out looking clustered circles. The more I exercise, the more raised they become and at times itch because it feels like my skin is extremely dry so I constantly try to use lotion.

Any ideas what this could be by chance?

It could be a case of dry skin, but also could be something like eczema.  Does the lotion give you any relief at all?  Since it's spreading and hasn't gotten better, it's probably time to go see a doctor for an exam to make sure you are treating it in the best way possible, instead of just guessing.

In the meantime, does the lotion you are using have any perfumes at all?  I'd try switching laundry detergent to something fragrance free, eliminate any fabric softeners, and make sure that any lotions you use are fragrance free.  See if that helps to start and get to see your doctor.
