Hi not sure if I'm on the right forum or not but .........

Hi, I have in the last couple of days broke out in spots all over the top of my chest, a little bit also on my back. They are as itchy as hell and feel like spots/acne but are sore as well as ithy if that makes any sense. I am 35yrs old and have never really suffered with acne when I was younger. Just had a 24hr holter monitor put on my chest two days ago, and am thinking maybe the sticky plasters on my chest irrated my skin or something, either way has anyone any ideas on what to use for this, as it is driving me mad. It is itchy and when I itch it, it becomes sore :(

Hi,

I do not think this is an infection. This may be more of an inflammatory reaction given that the onset was very much associated with wearing the holter monitor.Contact or allergic dermatitis are still the likely differentials in your case.

Topical corticosteroids and intake of oral antihistamines may be able to help.Discuss this with your physician prior to initiating any medications.

Hi and thanks for your advice and comment.

No I'm not on any medication as such, besides the pill, and multivitamins. The only new thing that I started yesterday is Udo's Oil, which is Omega 3,6,9, but I already had the rash/spots beforehand.

No the holter monitor is off now, just needed to wear it for 24 hours. Just wondering if they actually "clean them" before the next patient, and would it be possible to "catch" this from the previous patient, and if so hopefully it is just topical and can be treated.

I did suffer with slight acne a few years back and used a topical solution called, topicyclone and another one called zineryt lotion, I'm half wondering whether to try these again as it is very sore, and extremely itchy. But the itch and the rash only came on me after wearing that monitor.

Hi,

Are you still wearing the 24 hour holter monitor?

Do you have any previous allergies?

Any intake of new medications or food that may cause the itchiness?

I suggest that you inform your physician about this so you may be prescribed topical medications to alleviate the itchiness.

I believe you developed contact dermatitis to the holter straps. This may be severely itchy and they may present with small vesicles containing clear fluid. Discuss with your physician the use of topical corticosteroids to alleviate the itchiness. For the meantime, apply an ice pack over the area to keep the itching down.Do not take any medications for this unless you have informed your physician.
