Is it beard ringworm ?

Noticed a circular discolorattion ie; darker ;on my chin (beard area) in the recent past ( one month). Its about 1 cm in diameter. The discoloration is hardly visible --only just;and apparently it is darker on the perimeter.I am giving it a therapeutic trial diagnosis of taking Terbinafine Tablets(250 mg) for 4 weeks.
I am just into therapy having  finished 3 days (3 tabs of 250 mg).......no visible difference so far....
Any comments / suggestions ?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to ringworm or nummular dermatitis but from the description it sounds more like ringworm or tinea barbae. Tinea barbae is a fungal infection of the shaved areas of face and neck and you need topical antifungals like Lamisil which you are already using. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done by a dermatologist as you may need oral antifungals.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Dear Doctor
Thanks for the time and effort you gave ! ! It's Tinea Barbae for sure ; as I've been taking Terbinafine 250 mg po for past 2 wks  and the symptoms have dropped by at least 50 % ! ! Topical antifungals have had no effect.  I'm now switching over to oral Griesofulvin as  the side effects of oral Terbinafine are pretty much unbearable (resembles a cold but with more sneezing ; at times I also get 'breathless' ie my mind feels that my breaths are not supplying O2 to my brain---wierd is'nt it ?).
BTW  I  just wanted to be certain (as per the latest Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy:- the eighteenth edition is out; I have upto the seventeenth; I am sure you'll be having access to the latest version) as to whether my Therapy is directed correctly ; could you enlighten me on that ? Thanks in advance ! !  I am an expert synthetic organic chemist, please feel free to tell me if there's anything I can do for you...I'll do it to the extent possible...
With kind regards---Purushottam
