Itchy groin, brownish fungus?

Well I've probably had this for a few years... It is quite unbearable... I have tried tubes of about every over the counter medicine.. none have gotten rid of it.

I would say the skin is  darker color on my groin, and it does tend to be in the cracks beside my legs, or under the groin.... I cant help but scratch it, and I took a picture of what comes off...

Could I just give this sample to my dermatologist and tell the dr to send it to a lab? I really don't feel comfortable dropping my pants in front of any doctor...

Anyone know what this is? its a tiny amount of stuff in this pic, that's why i couldn't focus to well.

Hello,
For these symptoms, erythrasma should be ruled out. Erythrasma is a chronic superficial infection of the intertriginous areas of the skin.It is true that groins are effected but the typical appearance is well-demarcated, brown-red macular patches. The skin has a wrinkled appearance with fine scales.

It has to be differentiated from contact dermatitis, psoriasis, sweat dermatitis and fungal infections which may mimic it.Wood lamp examination and gram staining are the tests for its diagnosis.

So nothing can be confirmed without examination.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
