Itchy scalp in 2 year old

Hi please I need some help with a problem. My 2 and a half year old boy constantly scratches his scalp. We have shaved down his head and there is no scalp irritation. We even took him to our doctor who said he seems to have a healthy scalp and suggested using olive oil which we're using at the moment but the itchiness still persists. Please help!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms of itchy scalp , your son may be suffering from Tinea Capitis or Ringworm (fungal infection) of the scalp. Ringworm is a fungal skin infection that occurs on the face, body or scalp. The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck.  The other possibility is of atopic dermatitis of the scalp. My sincere advice is to get your son evaluated for these two possibilities from a dermatologist. Biopsy of the skin scrapings can help in confirming the diagnosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
