Red itchy areas on butt and thighs

I recently started feeling really itchy on my butt, thighs and the junction between the two. If I run my hand through the area I can feel little bumps here and there, but they are almost imperceptible. It itches a lot more while I'm lying down on bed at night and morning. I have a feeling it's because of the heat(under the blankets).

I've had problems with fungi before so that is always an option. Specially cause I'm a really hairy guy and I live in a hot and humid area. I never had a itchy in this area though, it feels totally different from what I've experienced before.

I have an appointment with a dermatologist but it's only next Tuesday, and I'm a bit anxious about it so I would love some feedback on what this is. My main concern is scabies because I travel a lot and sleep in a lot of crappy hostels with a high rotation of travelers.

I'll annex a picture of one of the areas, its in my butt/thigh area. It's a close up so it's pretty SFW, not really nice to look at it though haha. The picture has flash on, so the red is a lot brighter than it looks here.
