traumatized mole

Hi Vanessa,

Thanks for responding.  I am 46 years old. As for the traumatized mole, the nurse did say that it could have been scratched or otherwise traumatized.  I was just questioning this because it is a new mole and I don't remember it being hurt.

As for the other two moles, the doctor said that they both have more than one color and the borders are indistinct. I noticed the one between my breast about a year ago and it looks darker.  I never noticed the one on my right breast.  Don't know if it is new or not. Also, these two moles are flat, not really at risk for being irritated.

Hi Vanessa,

I just got back from the dermatologist regarding the mole I had removed on 4-26. He said that it was hypermelanotic.  He said everything is fine, that it has all been removed and not to worry.  I am having another mole removed from my right breast on May 29th.  I asked if I really needed to have this on removed and he said yes, because he sees at least 3 different colors in it. My questions are...Is hypermelanotic precancerous and regarding mole with 3 or more colors, does that mean that it is probably precancerous?  I'm not sure if I am getting all the information from my doctor, as he knows that I have been very emotional and stressed because my best friend has breast cancer.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Moles that are atypical in appearance that is , they look a bit different from  other moles in the body, may need further evaluation. Excising the mole is part of management as there is no other way of evaluating the cause of the moles.

I understand your concern. At this point, your physician will not be able to move forward without the biopsy or histopath result. The biopsy will help guide management. I know you are highly anxious about this. Let us take this one step at a time and let us wait for the results. Do not hesitate to discuss your concerns with your physician.

Do keep us posted regarding results.
