Piercings

Hi.
I had my eyebrow pierced about 4months ago and its still not healed. Its not white puss it seems to be just seeping clear fluid and getting crusty, and it also seems raw inside, it hurts slightly to touch it, but ive never had any prolems with surface piercings in the past for example my lip healed perfectly.
and im not too keen on taking it out coz last year i had the other side done but i took it out because my mate accidentally kicked it and ripped it slightly.
I just want to know what i can do to maybe heal it or speed up the healing process. I dont know if this helps but it was pierced with a curved bar.

Thanks Very Much

Hello,

How are you?

All the topical medicines like Neosporin and polysporin and betadene are available over the counter.Pls make sure to check your sensitivity to betadene first. If the symptoms do noe improve even after using these topical antibiotics then oral antibiotics may be needed which are available only on prescription of a dermatologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.

Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of non healing of the pierced skin due to infections. The clear fluid that seeps out and crusts is plasma. Pls clean the wound with dettol and maintain hygiene. An antiseptic cream such as Polysporin or neosporin can also be used.
If you want to use an antiseptic on the wound, you can go in for betadene. Before applying betadene on the skin, pls apply a little amount on the skin of the forearm at the elbow joint and look for any redness. If it appears then you may be allergic to betadene.

If the symptoms still persist then oral antibiotics have to be taken.Allergy to the metal used in piercing also has to be ruled out then.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
