Rash (brown spots) on both hands

I've had what I assume is a rash on my hands now for 3 weeks with no signs of fading. My left hand has individual spots / blemishes around the thumb webbing. My right hand has a very different looking, concentrated rash on the back of my index finger (plus a small single dot on my middle finger). Both hands developed the rashes on the same day. It never itched or raised up, you can't feel there's anything there. They started out redder than they are now, they seem more brownish now. I've attached a photo of both hands, ignore the dark red scar, that is a burn mark (I burned this finger after the rash had developed). Never had anything like this before and can't think of anything I was exposed to that may cause this. Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi

You may have developed a hypersensitivity reaction to the chemical spray. Refrain from using the chemical spray again. The brown rash appears to be superficial. They actually appear as abrasions to me which suggests a more superficial involvement of the skin. Observe the affected areas. This should revert to normal skin if this is only a superficial skin irritation. Be careful to protect you hands when handling substances and chemicals. Aside from topical antibiotics, also apply vitamin E cream over the area to keep it from drying or being irritated.

Thank you for the response. No, I haven't hit or injured either hand. They just appeared. I did spray the yard for insects (hose attachment) the day before it appeared. This is the only thing I can think that got on my hands (although I've used that same brand many times with no such reaction). I will try your cream suggestion.

Thanks again.

Hi

This appears to be a form of abrasion. Have you injured or hit this part of your hand? It is possible that you could have scraped this against something. If there are no similar discolorations in other parts of the body. This does not appear to be something serious. You may apply a topical antibiotic cream on the area and see if this will help improve the skin condition. If there is no improvement in 3 days, then cease the medications. Wash the area with warm water and use only a mild cleanser for this.
