I am 58years and have type 2 diabtese. I am not circumcised.  The foreskin does not retract. In fact it has further grown over the years and it is very difficult to keep it clean. About ten days back I had itching on the penis head and the foreskin.  I put few drops of liquid soap and betadine to cleanse the area some four days back.  Now I have acute itching in the foreskin and the penis head. My physician has given me a single pill of Zocon 150 mg and a cream called Candid. I have applied the cream on the foreskin and pushed a little cream inside. My questions are what could this be ? second, is one tablet of Zocon 150 mg enough ? If not then when do I take the next dose ? Third how do i keep penis clean with foreskin intact. ?

Dear Vanessa Mam,

I have recently found 2-3 red spots on my penis. Look wise, they are as small as any Pen's tip. There is no irritation, itching. They neither look like bumps. This happened 2.5 years back as well. At that time I applied quadriderm cream. But, even in that case it took me approx. a week for those spots to go.
And, just to let you know, I haven't engaged in any sexual activity yet.
Could you please tell me as what causes this?

Kind Regards,

RG

Hi

Now you feel some relief. It could have been mild skin abrasions for them to heal readily. As a physician, allow me to advise you not to engage in "unsafe" sexual activities again as this may jeopardize not only your health but your loved ones’ health also. The anxiety that follows such activities may only cause further strain in your health and relationships.

Continue good genital hygiene and keep the area clean and dry always. Do not hesitate to update us on anything.

Hi

In the absence of any burning pain or sensation on the area or during urination, this may not be an STD. However, we can not entirely rule out an STD here. This may only  be a mild skin irritation or abrasion .

Do not apply anything on the area for now. Wash this with a gentle cleanser and keep the area dry and clean all the time. See if this improves after some time. Refrain from manipulating or touching the area to allow the skin to heal. If the red spots persist then applying 1% hydrocortisone thinly may help. You need not apply the corticosteroid right now. Just observe the skin condition first.
