Red tip of penis

one day I felt a little bit of discomfort when i was putting on my boxers, and then I looked at my penis and it seemed irritated, and i kind of stretched it open I guess you would say, and It was really red, but I had no pain no discharge, and no discomfort while urinating. It seems to be getting better very very slowly (it started about last week) however, sometimes it gets red inside, for example when I woke up with an erection, it was red also when it went back to normal it was still red, however after a while it became better....I don't know if it is anything serious....I asked a family member who is a pharmacist, and he told me that it's not serious, and it should go away after a while, especially since i have no pain urinating, and no discharge, only discomfort when my penis rubs against my boxers. It seems like there is very little swelling not really anything noticeable, unless I kinda look hard. Also the outside of the tip doesnt look "normal" it looks irritated. What should I do about this?

Thank You I appreciate it, I'm getting slightly better as the days go by, so I'll take good care of it and wash it and see how it goes!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From your symptoms it looks like chafed or irritated skin due to friction rub with your clothes and underwear. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

With only what you gave me to go on....

Try drinking more water, you might have too much acid in your system.  People (men?) drink beer, coffee, sodas, alcohol, etc... but never think of water.

Don't wear pants that are likely to rub since you wear boxers and aren't as supported as jockeys.

Wash your hands after urinating (just in case).

Keep tabs on it and make certain that it isn't getting worse.

If you start to see a rash, bumps, discharge... whatever... time to see a dermatologist.
