Redness on hands

Hi, i'm a 22 year old white male, and I need some help.

For the past few years I've been getting very noticable redness on my hands that completely stops at the wrist on both.

The more I expose my hands to different things like soap/water, flour, and other irritants, the more red they become. There is no dryness in my hands, though. Just redness and very slight itching.

It usually starts in the fall and gets progressively worse throughout the winter, but here are never signs of it in the warmer months for some reason. I've also noticed that if I raise my hands above my head or at least hold them up so they're not facing the ground, the redness subsides for the most part, until I put them by my side again (blood flow, obviously) That's about all I can tell you.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have this same. I am 14 years old girl. I feel really insecure because of this and try to hide my hands. People stare at them and i feel like i cant do things cause people will see my hands. My life would just be so much better if they could just be normal. But my mom don't think it's big enough to go to doctor. I beg of you, if you know how to chance it tell me.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

This is an irritation or sensitivity to soap, detergents, or anything that could trigger the redness. In some people, skin exposure to cold temperatures triggers the release of histamine and other chemicals into the skin. This results in skin redness, itching, swelling and hives.

As much as possible, avoid exposure to cold air as well as cold water and irritants. Are there other signs or symptoms present? It would be best to see your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Allergy testing may also be done to find other causes or irritants. Take care and keep us posted.
