SO ITCHY EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

Ok so I have been itchy all over for several months now.... this began when I contracted Genital Herpes this summer (2009)... there are red and white bumps on my thighs, buttocks, parts of my hands and feet, and at times (right now) my chest gets itchy as well.  I had a slight addiction to DXM (Robitussin) for a while, too, but I have not done it in over a month and don't plan to again.  I've heard that causes itchiness as well but I'm not sure about the after-effects.

I am unable to see a dermatologist until this winter when I go back home (I'm up at school).

Any help would be appreciated.  Asap.  I can't tolerate it anymore.

Thanks

Hello,
It is true that Robitussin can cause an itchy rash but that appears as side effect of the drug. In your case, it can be due to contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis or heat rash. Take some oral antihistaminics like Benadryl (cause drowsiness) or Claritin and apply calamine lotion as it helps in soothing the skin. You can also apply a mild steroid cream and if the symptoms persist then consult a dermatologist as oral steroids may be needed. Also then get the possibility of scabies ruled out.

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
