I have been using ammonium lactate since I was little for my eczema including on my faceI am now 19 ,
but I no longer have eczema so recently everytime I tried to stop the use of the lotion it would make my
skin burn and itch. How can I stop using this lotion without the effects of the burning and itching?

I was given ammonium lactate from a dermatologist for my eczema and serve itching on my arms. My arms looked like I had a sunburn and tender. I have discontinued  the use of it. Now my skin is so thin in that area, everytime I bump it I get blood blisters, sometimes my skin tears and bleeds very easy. I have had my blood checked, it all came out good. Do you think this is caused from the ammonium lactate? Will my arms ever get back to normal. the dermatologist said it was sun damage, I have it know where else, nor a problem since I've have  used this stuff. What do you think?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This burning and itching can be due to dermatitis or irrietant contacat dermatitis due to continuous usage of the product. Avoid using any lotions and creams over the face for the meantime. Wash your face with a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Then apply a good hypoallergenic moisturizer over the area and see if this improves. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort.

If the irritation persists then please get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
