Is it possible this is staph? Or definitely herpes?

My boyfriend and I tried anal for the first time two weeks ago. I noticed small tears which were a bit itchy and painful a few days afterward which I attributed to not enough lube. One week later I noticed a small ulcer on my inner labia. I immediately made an appointment with a clinic to get it checked. In the last few days the ulcers have spread through my buttcrack and vaginal opening. Could this be a staph infection? Because of where it seems to have started? Or is it for sure herpes? I have also been feeling a bit feverish and chills. My boyfriend and I broke up for 6 months (from oct to April) and have been back together now for 4. If it is herpes I’m wondering about timing- Does this mean he slept with someone else since we’ve been back together? Or could this be something that was picked up while we were broken up? Or something that could have been dormant and this brought on a first outbreak? My appointment is tomorrow to have it cultured I’m freaking out!

It's hard to know if this is herpes without a test- so it's important to get that.  If it is herpes, it could have been something he picked up during the break up- herpes can lay dormant in the system and most commonly spreads during an outbreak.  Does he have any sores?  He doesn't necessarily have to have them to spread it, but a majority of the time, that's how it spreads.

Best of luck at your appointment today- let us know how you are doing.
