chicken pox

Hi
My 9 year old son had chicken pox 40 days ago .All of the spots have almost resolvedcompletely except a couple on his face .One on his cheek and the other on his forehead .They left depressed scars which are slightly reddish in colour .I m extremely worried as he keeps asking me when are they going to disappear. Is there any thing i can do to help healing .Is there a cream that is safe to use on his face to help healing?
thank you
Ghada

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The scars due to chicken pox will take some time to heal.Since the age is less, only 9 years,so I cannot prescribe the usual medicines for hyperpigmentation. Moreover the other methods of treatment like chemical peeling, derma abrasion, laser treatment etc are also not advisable in children.

You can however use calamine lotion on the red scars as it helps in soothing the skin.

I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
