contact dermatitis

Hi, I have been diagnosed with contact dermatitis from my steroid cream (Clobetasol). I stopped wearing my yoga pants which have Spandex/Lycra and switched to shorts because it was summer and also because I didn't want to have the pants absorb the steroid.. My legs finally cleared up by using another steroid (
Triamcinolone) ointment recommened by my dermatologist (who has no time to see me again for months) but it took several months as it was a terrible reaction with swelling, skin peeling , terrible itching. THen after it cleared up for a couple of weeks it got cold here and I put my yoga pants back on and I broke out (but a small reaction and totally not as bad as when I used the steroid at all).  So my question is: will my outbreak go away without using the steroid? I don't want to go back on it if I can help it. I have stopped wearing the pants and took a shower. It isn't getting any worse now.  Well, I broke down and used the topical steroid ointment that I'm not allergic to and it is going away. I am trying to get away from the steroids due to the bad reaction.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
For contact dermatitis, Use a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Also use cotton clothes and change the clothes twice if there is any increased sweating. Try keeping the skin free of sweat as far as possible. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply the steroid cream that you are using. For itching itching antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin can be taken.
If the symptoms persist then get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thank you for your reply. I do use Cetaphil Restoraderm twice a day. I will switch to cotton pants. I am having trouble finding 100% cotton pants. The steroid worked and it is almost gone. I take antihistamines but that doesn't work. I'm going to get patch tested when they are available. In the meantime I need to avoid the triggers.
