Never wear sandals. Do wear thongs but have not since this problem. Also is between smallest toe and next on left foot. Shoe shouldn';t be a factor I would think.
The doctor said it is a corn but the toe next to it is becoming callused. This seems to be the cause of pain. I am type 1 diabetic and this also makes it an issue but yea the pain seems to be centered on the callus and despite pads between toes it continues.
Doctor said he only could treat it and did reduce the callus but then put an fast-drying antiseptic on it - said the name but couldn't get any from the chemist.
Too long between doctor visits. Need some advice now on how to treat it.
All suggestions appreciated.:-))
Hi
In the absence of pain and redness, then thickened skin or callus may be a differential here. If there is any dampness or moisture in the area and if the area is sore or itchy then a dermatitis and fungal infection may be a differential. Usually for tinea pedis or infections involving the skin of the foot, there is notable thinning of the skin. The affected areas appear to be fragile and may readily slough off. You may try 1% hydrocortisone cream if no broken skin is noted. See if this works. If the condition does not improve, then try to observe. If there is increase in the size of the affected area and if pain persists, then you may need to have this assessed by your doctor.
Do you wear sandals which readily irritates this part of the foot?
