I had a problem with both big toes and thought it was athletes foot. The first thing the dr said was it is normally on all the toes not just one. They never figured out mine but I did later. Try soaking that toe in hydrogen peroxide. It should kill the germs. Try salty water. Use the water as hot as you can get it. Spray you shoe with an antibacterial spray so you won't give the germs back to yourself. The drug you were talking about that is so bad for your liver, I had tried to get my dr to give it to me. At that time I didn't know about the liver damage it could cause, but my dr wouldn't do it. Now I know why. Don't wear shoes unless you have to. Get some flip flops or go barefoot so that toe can get air. Moisture is one of the big things that causes athletes feet. Hope you get help soon.
Wow, I know how frusturating it is for you. I have had jock itch for nearly 4 months, and it has disrupted my entire life. It was not diagnosed until 4 weeks ago, so I didn't begin treatment until then. The first 2 weeks of treatment with OTC cream/powder was not effective at all...because I was itching and irritating the area. If you are itching or rubbing the infected area, it is spreading the fungus and rubbing it into the layer already infected, which just makes it worse. Once I forced myself to keep my hands off the forbidden area, it got better very quickly. Now after 2 weeks of no itching...it's 75% gone, and the need to itch was gone after a couple days. I've read many times that symptoms and treatment are similiar for Atheletes Foot, in fact one usually leads to the other, because of cross-contamination...so keep your hands out of your pants! Good Luck
