how to test for fungal infection on face/oily skin nose area?

I believe I have a fungal, ringworm type infection on my face in the nose area on sides of nose and the skin doctors I've seen so far seem to want to just pass it off as rosacea or dermatitis and I need to know how to get tested for this and get rid of it, as I have this now for 3yrs. and it is spreading and different cremes I've tried are not working, please help!!

I actually have what sounds like to be the same problem.  I visited my very expensive dermatologist to find out that it is a form of psoriasis.  I was advised approx. 3 years ago to start using Head and Shoulders or any shampoo that contains pyrithione zinc.  I know it sounds simple, but since using the shampoo I have definetly noticed a difference in my facial area.  You might try this simple solution before having the test done.

Hello,
If you believe it is a fungal infection, then you can get a fungal KOH examination of the skin scrapings and biopsy of the skin to confirm the diagnosis. Without examination, it is difficult to confirm a diagnosis.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
