Hi,

Try not to scratch to prevent secondary infection. Are there other symptoms present?  This could be an irritation or infection such as thrush, which is usually caused by a fungal organism called candida albicans. It normally lives in our bodies but can grow out of control in our genital area causing symptoms of thrush such as white, thick, yeasty smelling vaginal discharge, and a very itchy, sore and red vulva.  It can be  treated with over-the-counter or prescribed antifungal drugs. However, I would recommend that you have this evaluated further by your gynecologist for proper management.   Complete medical history and physical examination is important to reach a diagnosis.

Take care and regards.

Hello,
Vaginal itching can be due to contact dermatitis, vaginitis(inflammation of the vagina) or candida infection.

Take some precautionary measures like avoid wearing tight fitting clothing like jeans and pantyhose and underwear made from synthetic fibresRemove wet or damp bathing suits immediately after swimming, avoid douching, perfumed soaps, bubble baths and toiletries, change underwear daily, wash underwear in hot water (to destroy fungi) and double rinse (to remove any irritating detergent) and take adequate nutrition and sleep.

Also use some antifungal pessaries like clotrimazole (Femizole-7), miconazole (Monistat-Derm, Monistat Vaginal) or nystatin which are available over the counter. If still the symptoms persist then oral antifungals may be needed.Pls consult a gynecologist in that case. Also if there is any associated discharge from the vagina, then pls get genital infections ruled out.
I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
