Hi.   I have had the same problem for years.  I found out "by accident" that as I was taking biotin for my hair, I noticed the itching after a shower stopped.   I now make sure that I take a biotin at least 4-5 hours before I shower and I have no itching at all.   Yes, it stinks not being able to jump in the shower when you feel like it and not suffer with the itching but it has been a huge relief.  Try it.  I just buy the biotin forte (includes all the be vitamins) from the vitamin shoppe but just regular biotin works too.  I always get at least 2500 mg.  For those times when you gotta shower and shower now,  I just endure the itching for about 15- 20 mnutes after.

Hello,
This itchy skin does not appear when you go off to work after taking a shower. So it can be due to itch- scratch-itch cycle. It can also be due to dry skin or xerosis or due to aquagenic urticaria. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used, whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin but take care that moisturizers are applied immediately after wiping the body after shower.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
