itchy scrotum

Yes I have this itchy scrotum. I'm on a medication that causes eczema. I can't stop taking the medication or else I won't have any place to live. The itching is in fact all over my body; but I learned that certain foods causes me to break out in hives in conjuction with the medication. The itching on my scrotum is forever constant. I've tried all kinds of anti-itch medication as well as 1% hydrocortizones. Nothing works on this itch. I mean no oils, lotions, body wash. I want to go to dermatologist and beg for a cream that's powerful enough for extremly dry skin. I mean dead skin literally falls from my scrotum constantly. The itching is so bad that the skin on my scrotum is left with scabs and open sores. The itching is also inside my anus area. Can any Doctor help?

I've had this for 4 years. This got so out of hand that I tested negative for herpes twice. I found relief by accident. My reasoning was the itching was caused by inflammation. So I used voltaren gel and it seemed to work. It stings in the beginning but after a few days I feel much better.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
For your eczema, You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide) which are available under prescription. Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. Mostly it is a combination of treatments that is effective for eczema. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
