Hi there I couldnt imagine what your going through now but Iam worried my daughter will be teased with her condoition when she gets older..Sorry to say there is nothing we can do for it  my kid has it really bad she has seen a Dermatolagist and all he said was dont let her stay in the sun for long and get a humidfier to keep moisture in her room for winter times and no long baths/showers and keep your skin moist all the time...She was the worst cause he has ever seen. Most people dont realize they have it and its quite common its usually runs in the family..My kid has it everywhere cheeks/thighs/butt/arms etc...Soap does not work it drys out your skin try to use more natural stuff  in a body wash form with vitamin E in it.Plus I use E/P cream on my kid all the time and it seems to be less noticable the red is not there plus she does not break out too much so it looks like her skin practically normal...I get it at a store where I live but here is the web site just incase you cant find it where you live.www.bodimage.com its in Vanderhoof British Columbia Canada (Inspiratek Enterprises Inc.). I hope this helps you cause I tried pretty much everything  and I found this works better then Vitamin E...Try not to worry too much about what other people say everyone looks different and has different problems.

I am also one of many that suffers from keratosis pilaris but i found that using Vitamin E helps alot. It's not the capsle form of Vitamin E, It's a bottle that is filled with it; meant to be rub on. it almost looks like olive oil. I replaced my lotion with the vitamin e, and after i began to use it regularly my sister pointed out that my bumps were almost gone! i also use a loofa everytime i shower and i scrub the back of my arms and legs (the affected area.) Its never really noticed it until my boyfriend at the time kept asking me what was on my arms i got really self concious and now i notice it all the time, i even noticed it in other people...and more people have it than you think! its not curable its just treatable, bummer.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi Jim

I understand that keratosis pilaris may be quite embarassing but there is really nothing to be embarassed about this. Keratosis pilaris and the cause of this condition is not very clear. They may occur in adolescence and may resolve spontaneously later in adulthood. You may need mild exfoliation to smoothen the skin and to help remove the dead skin which is usually characteristic of keratosis pilaris.

So talk to your parents or guardian about this. Discuss your concerns with them and also with your doctor. This should not be a source of embarrassment. Explain the condition to your friends and I am sure they will understand.
