red dry spot at ankle with flaky skin.

ok so i am really wondering what is going on. during around the middle of summer i noticed a small red red spot. it was flaky and rough on contact and it was about the size of a quarter back then . when scratched it seemed to ooze. over the few months it seemed to get larger although i am not sure it was from scratching allot or not. i have been trying not to scratch it much but sometimes i do it with out even thinking. it is itchy randomly or it itches if i scratch it myself. the spot it self has grown considerably (3 in vertically and 2 in horizontally) since then. there is some small white flakes. also i put on some cortisone cream for awhile but did not do it every day. but it seemed to make it at least just abit smoother.i don't know if it should be anything serious but i don't think i will be able to get to a dermatologist any time soon this i would really like an answer because im getting a tab bit worried. i have decided to add in a picture of what it looks like to date that may help. thank you.

Looks like eczema. This is a horrible disease that causes your skin to itch and flake. Their are many types of eczema and it affects everyone differently. Their is no cure and no reasonable treatment. Steroids are used but cause problems and can't be used for long. If you go to a Dermatologist, they will tell you there is nothing they can do, just learn to live with it. This disease just makes you uncomfortable and rarely causes other problems. Doctors and pharmaceutical companies make billions off of this problem so they are not interested in solving the problem.
While the rest of the medical industry makes huge strides, Dermatologists rely on steroids that have been around for decades.
