discolored patch on back

I am a 25 year old female.  I had a baby 11 months ago and I am currently nursing.  On my upper back I have a large discolored spot.  It takes up the majority of the aread between my shoulder blades.  It has a brownish color to it and itches sometimes.  I first noticed it about 8 months ago, but it may have been there longer.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the photo and description, pityriasis versicolor is an important possibility. It is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates.
Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment.

You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Can see the picture, but not able to make out lot of detail. Is that taken with a mobile camera? Can you upload a pic in better lighting. Looks a bit like pityriasis versicolor. But obviously can't be absolutely certain on this pic alone.Check out http://www.dermnetnz.org/fungal/pityriasis-versicolor.html
