side effect

I had just one steroid injection to treat keloid growing in my areola area due to a breast life surgery. Scar seemed to have flattened down, but the veins are like growing out of the skin which is indented in that part.

Is this a permanent side effect or the body will recover later?

The vein is not showing that much now, looks like it is getting better (2 moths after first shot). But I was told I need to do more shots to prevent the keloid from growing back, I'm just wondering if that side effects will come back and become permanent.

Thanks!

Hello,
It can be due to spider veins formed due to the backup of blood. They can also be caused by hormone changes, exposure to the sun, and injuries.

Scars and indents are side effects of steroid injections for keloids and it may take months to heal and fill in when collages in formed but sometimes it may take longer or less depending on the depth of the indentations and the response of the skin. If they persist then you can get collagen filling and laser resurfacing done. For the spider veins also, laser treatment is required.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
