Brown spots on butt

I have brown, scaly spots on my butt that are spreading down the back of my legs.  They do not itch, but do turn red after my shower.  I have been to a dermatologist and was given a prescription which has done nothing.  I have changed detergent, fabric softener and have rinsed my laundry twice.  I have also tried alcohol, peroxide, bacterial soap, diaper rash ointment, anti-bacteria ointment, different skin lotions and nothing has helped!!!!  I have had this rash for over a year.
HELP, PLEASE

Thank you so much for your response.   My second visit to this Dermatologist (regarding this rash) was a very unpleasant one as he implied that I was trying to make this something more than it was and offered nothing more than another prescription which I refused.  However, he did call and apologize and offered to do a test on the area (which is what he told me he was going to do if this didn't go away within six months).  I am trying another over-the-counter cream and baby powder.  If this doesn't work, I will search out another Dermatologist.  Thank you again for responding to my plea of desperation!

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be discoid eczema, erythrasma or pityriasis rosea.
Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and sometimes by itching.

No treatment is usually required. In most patients, the condition lasts only a matter of weeks or months(upto six months).Steroid creams are helpful in severe cases.

If the rash persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Other possibilities have to be ruled out then.

I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
