Random Red Itchy Bumps

I am not sure if this is a dermatology issue or not.  I have been developing small, red itchy bumps and they appear randomly.  They first started on my arms and there would be one here or there, not in a patch and not big in size, very small, similar to a flea bite.  Now, they have spread to my chest and I have about 12-15 of them all over the upper portion spreading to my collar bone.  They are really starting to bother me.  They itch like crazy and when I scratch them they become a little swollen and just throb with "itchiness".  I do have sensitive skin but have not changed any detergents or lotions or body washes.  Everything is the same.  I am beginning to think I may need to make a doctors appointment but am hoping that I can find some answers online and save a trip.  Any advice?

Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be hives due to some viral infection, scabies or lichen simplex.

You may try calamine lotion on the rash after taking an oatmeal bath. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash.To relieve itching, you  can take some antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin.

If the bumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.

Sure you have bumped in to the right forum. My clinical impression is that you have Prurigo and would respond well to antihistaminics, and external application of moderate potency steroid.Do consult your physician.
