High blood sugar coma?

My brother passed away this past week and I'm just tiring to understand what happened. If anyone could lend some insite on the process of diabetic coma I would be very greatful as a autopsy will not be done. Here's what I know happened. The last call he made was Saturday morning. I found him the following Friday morning deceased on the floor. They estimate he had been deceased for approx 2 days. His last blood sugar reading was over 600 on his meter and there was vomit in the bath tub. So I know he went into high blood sugar coma but would like to know the timeline. What damages occurs and how long after he passes out? How quickly would he have become unconscious? And if anyone has been brought back from diabetic coma did they feel any pain while out? At what point would it have been to late to revive him without permant damage? thank you for any insite you can provide.

Hi,

Very sorry about your brother and your family's loss.  This is surely a very hard time for you all.

Sounds like he died of diabetic ketoacidosis.  You can look this up.   The high blood sugar causes severe dehydration.  This condition can progress very rapidly once started.   Blood sugar of 600 is highly dangerous and if not treated quite quickly will be fatal.

For the rest, we cannot answer.  He would not have felt anything once he was already unconscious.

I hope you find peace.
