No, but I agree that it will lower it. Next time address the person Wave.
Slow down woman! I quoted the person who posted in this thread about alcohol lowering glucose. Was that you? I don't think so.
and the link is plainly posted where I found my facts. You must be talking to someone else...we should start addressing people in here I suppose.
What are you talking about? If you are talking to me, I said "hypoglycemic" that means low blood sugar. This person said his friend has been drinking and not taking care of himself, maybe you need to read his post.
"actually drinking alcohol helps lower your sugar levels...so just drink when you wanna help your numbers"
Tell us where you got these inaccurate facts? What study? What doctor told you this? Bad bad advice.
I found this for you to help you understand the dangers of alcohol and someone like your friend who does not have diabetes under control and or on meds can cause hypoglycemic reactions(very low blood sugar)

I really do not think that is good advice with all due respect. Someone who is having trouble maintaining their glucose levels most definately should stay away from alcohol!
High carbohydrates will not help, and someone having alcohol issues don ''t need to be told that booze will help them.
actually drinking alcohol helps lower your sugar levels because even though alcohol has carbs the sugar does not get into your system because of the alcohol.. so i say, if your gonna have a shake, make sure to drink a bit before and a lil after... or like when my numbers were in 400's one weekend cause of a cookout, i drank a little and they went to 110 :) so just drink when you wanna help your numbers.. dont just drink for fun i say
I think he better fins a new hobby because drinking booze is out for a diabetic in my opinion.
Thank you! Could you please tell me what drinks can be taken and the quantity and how frequent can be taken? So that i can suggest my friend
Its great that he quit smoking! He should not drink alcohol. Beer is really high in carbs and will elevate blood sugar tremendously. Ans as the other poster said, it will be very hard on kidneys.
I agree that denial of diabetes is a really big factor with people at times!
he is on oral medication....having 1/2 a tablet a day he is been drinking weekly once abt 3- 5 glaases or whisky and others!.. Should he completely stop drinking or what can he drink?
I'm 34 yrs old, been diabetic for 12 yrs now... drinking alcohol will help shut down his kidney alot faster. is your friend on oral medications for his diabetes or insulin taking shots. It sound like he's in great denial about the diabetes all together and may want to get a good team of doctors, and nutristionist, and othe people together for support. But you have the need to be scared for your friend, i was in denial for almost 7 yrs. about my diabetes, and now it had progressed so badly that I was taking 8-10 injections of insulin per day just to stay with a normal blood sugar ranges, and now I'm on a insulin pump. There are support groups for people with diabetes, and life can be very manageable if your friend is willing to do the work.
Good luck, but I'm here if you have any questions.
