Shedding Fat as a teenager

Hi I am currently a 16 year old teenager.

The problem is I have a slight/medium area of fat on my body around the love handles.
I have already changed my diet to eliminate junk food and take in less calories and I exercise for about 1 hour 6 times a week. I have also already done ab exercises/ weight training to build muscle and already have a six-pack
The only thing left is the fat around my waist.

The question is, is it healthy to increase intensity/continue with this plan as a teenager?
I'm worried that that fat is functional for something and working out/dieting could be harmful.

Thanks

My brother has the same problem and he's on a protein diet only for the first 5 days and then adds veggies and fruits but no carbs caffeine or dairy and only eat 5 1 oz portions per day and he's already lost 20 lbs. in 3 months and he does cardio too mainly walking and pool exercises. hope this helps. good luck
