Struggling to lose weight!!!

I'm a 28 year old female, 5'7", 144lbs.  About 6 months ago I was diagnosed with hashimoto's (hypothyroid) - which I now believe to be part of the reason I had gained 20-30 pounds over the last several years.  In January, I started exercising 3-4 days a week.  For the past 2 months I have been exercising 3-6 days a week (30 minutes of cardio and weight/strength training).  I have also been on a strict diet - no refined sugar and no refined carbs or processed foods (essentially vegetables, fruits, protein, etc.) with portion control.  I typically eat about 1000-1200 calories a day.  I drink 60-100 ounces of water.  I am also on a stable dose of thyroid medication and my TSH is less than 1.

Initially, after starting the diet and exercise I lost about 5 pounds.  For the last month or so I have been unable to any more weight.  I also take several supplements (probiotic, digestive enzymes, conjugated linoleic acid, b-12...and 4 weeks ago I added fucothin to this regime).

What can I do to lose weight???  I'd like to get down to about 130 (a weight I maintained about 3-4 years ago).  Most of my fat is in my stomach area (arms and legs are fine).  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (I'm starting to get frustrated!).

144 lbs at your height isnt bad at all!
Just to make you feel better (probably wont cuz people are more picky about themselves)
I weight  160 and Im 5'  2''. Believe it or not (I dont) my hubbys friends are always telling him how hot I am and gorgeous etc. I thought they were just being nice till 5 of them all crowded around the car when I dropped him off.
You are probably jsut too picky about yourself. I was down to 100lbs and still wasnt confident or felt the least bit skinny.

Hi and welcome.

I guess I'm one of the ladies that twehner5 was referring to.  I was dx'd with hypothyroidism almost exactly a year ago and the hashimoto's dx came in Oct 08.  About a year prior to my "hypo" dx, I had started gaining a lot of weight but it took a whole year for the doctor to decide to "listen"  and during that year, I gained 30+ pounds.

Now you know what I'm all about - I'm still struggling to get rid of them.  You seem to be one of the lucky ones though because you are taller and it sounds like you might have been a bit too thin to start because it seems you are about right now..  Lucky you - I'm 5 ft nothin and 144 pounds...........

You mentioned your TSH at < 1, but do you know what your actual thyroid hormone levels are? I will try to PM you later about that because this is a weight loss forum, not designed to deal with thyroid issues.  In the meantime, please feel free to check out the thyroid forum.  There's a ton of info there.

I will tell you, I also have pernicious anemia and self inject vitamin B12 every 2 weeks - B12 is not a weight loss vitamin.... CLA did nothing for me and though I've heard of it,  I'm not familiar with fucothin.

I've been told that when my thyroid levels are really stable, I will be able to lose weight.

You sound like you're doing everything RIGHT....except you may not be eating enough.  Plus, your weight sounds right for your height.  It depends on your frame....

5'7" female

123-136 = small frame

133-147 = medium frame

143-163= large frame

Hang in there!  I *KNOW* the Hashi's is making your weight-loss more difficult.  We have a few ladies on here (they'll chime in, I'm sure!) who have the same issue.  I cannot help you with that....I am sorry about that, though.

Good luck and keep up the good work.  You are taking REALLY good care of yourself!
