Will removing a dogs intestines cut their life span?

One of my puppies (I am a breeder) went home and is 8 month old. His owners are excellent and caring owners but the dog had a blocked intestines and had to have 6 inches removed from his intestines. Will this effect his life span?

He ingested a piece of a foam or rubber toy.

Did he ingest something and there was a blockage or is this disease or infection related?
The best source for that answer should be the Vet who should have discussed this prior to the procedure.  I would think, with proper post-op care and dietary management, he should recover.
