Congrats on your decision, Mich! You'll never regret it. Leaving a female intact is risky for any breed, but for a tiny breed like a chi it's even moreso, because if she accidentally DOES ever happen to get pregnant, unless it's a tiny male chihuahua that impregnates her, she will more than likely end up needing a very expensive C-section to safely deliver her puppies. You DEFINITELY made the right decision, both health-wise for your puppy, and ethically, when you consider all the homeless dogs and cats today, there is no need to risk more being born. You done good! :::hugs::: :)

There ARE no benefits to not having a female dog spayed. None. And the health problems that are possible from NOT having her spayed are numerous and, sometimes, deadly.
If you have her spayed before her first heat cycle, you virtually eliminate the possibility of her ever developing mammary cancer. You COMPLETELY eliminate the possibility of her ever developing pyometra, which is a life-threatening infection of the uterus.
A spay takes approximately 30 minutes, and the recovery takes no time at all. By the next day, your puppy will be playing as if nothing happened, although you should keep her quiet for a couple of days to allow the stitches to do their job.

She would be spayed and it is an excellent idea to have it done. In fact, I would not own a dog or cat without having it spayed or neutered.
Heck, I even had my dh neutered ;-)
