Our Dog Has Been Acting Strange

We have a 9-year-old spayed female English Cocker that has been acting quite strange lately.  She has always wanted to come in the house right after I let her out to go potty.  Lately she stays outside for hours and does not want to come in.  Today she took off to neighbors even though she has an invisible-fence shock collar.  When my husband brought her back, he had to drag her in the house.  She laid on the couch and trembled.  She has had Lyme disease and other parasites in the past.  She is 9 years old. She also has been overall hyperactive, panting a lot, and not eating quite as much.
She is very temperamental and I have been kicking her out of our bed at night. Recently I let her sleep with us again and for a day I thought that helped, but it didn't change after that.  She really can act like a brat, but it has gotten a lot worse lately.  I have tried to give her more attention but it seems not to help. I decided to put her back on Doxycycline again tonight (after the episode) because she has the recurring Lyme disease.

It is rare, I believe, but Lyme can cause neurological problems.
Due to her age, she may be showing signs of canine dementia.
She npmay be having vision or thyroid issues.
Agree that it is best to take her into your Vet fir a thorough evaluation.

Interesting case. I would not assume this is the Lyme disease again. Any time I see a dog acting "strange" I recommend a full and proper examination and a base set of blood and urine tests. Your dog is showing that she is in some sort of pain or ill health. The cause can be anything which is why you need a veterinarian to run some tests to confirm which organ system is the problem.
