I understand why you don't want to give the Rabies vaccine. Is she licensed with the City? If so, you may have to show proof she has the vaccine. Rabies can be carried by other animals that could gain access to your yard, if you live in such an area. You can check with the County and see if there are any reported cases. Just things to consider. If Heartworm is a possibility in your area, I would definitely be giving a preventative. I don't use any topical for Fkeas unless the cats around here become infested then I have to do something. There are some natural topic ask you can make up. I don't have a formula handy but try looking up natural flea control.
I understand what you mean.I had a "go round" with our head animal control officer also about Rabies...Oregon Law reads you HAVE to have
a Rabies here every 3 years...I explained my girl was 15-1/2 years old
HAD NO TEETH left...he told me I still had to have a Rabies shot!
"If a dog has teeth or no teeth if they get rabies it is in the saliva,if you
or someone you come in contact with has broken skin or an open cut
it is still possible to get rabies so she has to have her vaccination every
3 years....by Oregon law.
Check with your animal control, look up the laws in your county...I WAS
ABLE TO GET A DEFERRAL for Shelby as she never goes anywhere
except to the vet for her check up...she is ancient, doesn't walk very well
now, is blind and uncomfortable in strange places because she can not
see...she no longer has to have a rabies...perhaps your county also will
give a deferral to your girl??
Can't offer help with Advantage as I don't use that...sorry.... Jan
Your Vet should know better!!! When was her last rabies vaccine??? Did she get the one year or the 3 year????What are your state laws on Rabies vaccines? Each state is different....Let us know.....Thanks
