Oh, I am so sorry to read this but at least you know the cause.
You didn't say how old your dog is and I see you have a difficult decision to make. Not many of us have unlimited funds to be able to afford these treatments. Often, that has to factor in plus taking into consideration the quality of life for the dog and the odds this could recur. Even if you did the surgery, how would she be afterwards? In pain? Restricted diet and activity? More tests and how often to follow up?
I have, in other ways, been down this road and after taking all these things into consideration (I was dealing itch Lymphoma in one case) opted not to do treatment and did palliative care only.
Whatever your decision, I am sure it will be the right one for you and your dog.
Hugs
Well we did the surgery and found a 5 inch tumor in her stomach and also on her spleen..So we are very shocked and heart broken right now..Surgery is possible but very expensive and from what I read even if we did surgery it can come back and dogs lifespam can stil be 6 to 8 months..Pure heart break!!!!!! :(
Boy, hard call. Any chance your Vet or one around there could do more x-rays or an ultrasound or endoscopy? Since you mentioned the ham bone but blood work was normal, was a stool check done for possible salmonella or bacteria?
Your Vet is obviously treating for gastritis. Humans produce bile after we eat. Dogs produce it before which can be one reason dogs often vomit in the mornings. You might try feeding a few small meals a day. Will she eat her food with a little canned for and water? If not, try cooking up some chicken or lamb and rice and feed that a few times a day.
Hope this can get resolved.
Please keep us posted.
