I'm glad she seems herself again. I guess the hormone-shifts when coming into 'heat' affect all dogs differently.
But mine never shows those kinds of symptoms (she is entire) She does have slight shifts in energy-levels at different times, but very very slight, and not enough to be really called 'symptoms'. It's only because I really know her that I can tell anything is different about her.
So I would still keep an eye on your girl. No doubt she's fine, but do watch out for anything untoward. Another time things can go wrong is about 8 weeks after the 'heat' cycle has ended. That is the optimum time for a womb infection called Pyometra, which can be very dangerous if not treated very quickly (and the only treatment is emergency spaying) The symptoms of that are; drinking an unusual amount of water/refusal of food/nausea/vomiting/ lethargy/very often a temperature/vaginal discharge, foul-smelling (though it is possible to have Pyometra and there to be no discharge at all)
As I say, the optimum time for this to happen is 8 weeks after heat is ended. BUT, it can happen anytime at all.
thanks ginger899. The problem seems to have resolved a couple of days after my last message. she is back to herself. It could be because of her period which started some few days later. thanks again.
There could be so many different reasons why she is like this. Pain is one of the reasons, but as for what is causing it, I can't say. Only a thorough examination, many questions asked....(what had she eaten previous to this? Has she had any shocks, injuries? Does she have vaginal discharge? Is she drinking a large amount of water? etc...etc...), and probably full bloodwork and urine testing...could diagnose what is wrong. And only a vet can do that.
If she has been like this for 2 days, it is definitely time you took her to the vet, quickly.
I hope all goes well for her, and she makes a good recovery fast.
