help pleas! I dont know if my son hot bitten or scratched

Hi, your comments is highly appreciated since I need someone to ease my worries. 2 days ago my son was in pain after playinh with our 3 months old puppy. I don't know if he was bitten or scratched by our pup but he has a tiny 2 lines cut in his head. Im super worried about rabies bec our pupoy doesn't get his vaccination yet because he was still young. I can't sleep and very afraid right now because the site of exposure is in the head which is very dangerous. I got him to the clinic a while ago and he was given his 1st post prophylaxis shot. the nurse noted that my son's exposure case is category 3 so she needs to advise the RIG vaccine for my son, but she said that she thinks that it was just a scratch and my son seems fine because he was still so playful. so she said it's up to us if we will let him take the RIG vaccine.  now my question is do I need to let my son get taht RIG vaccine, I'm having my second thought because that RIG is so expensive but I don't know if he still need that. FYI pup is always in our house and backyardd we never let him run outside.  so far our pup and son is still doing well and fine. Please I need your advise.

As Karla and Margot have already told you, if your puppy has never been bitten by a rabid animal, you have absolutely no fear of your son developing rabies even though your puppy has not yet been vaccinated.

Agree with Karla.  I doubt, if the puppy has been with you for any length of time and not exposed to other animals, the risk of Rabies would be very low.
However, I might be a bit concerned about infection and would keep the scratched area cleaned and monitor it for any swelling and redness, etc.

How long have you had this dog? More than 10 days?
Has your puppy been bitten by any wild animal? If not, he couldn't have rabies! Nor could your child! Karla
