Peroxide prolongs healing, you should not bathe your dog with it. My other dog Cujo, also has mange a year ago. My vet gave him 3 sessions of mange shots and prescribed shampoo. He got better in just 2 weeks.
Treatment depends on the type of mange and the breed of your dog. You can use anti-parasitic shampoo. I suggest you go see other vets in your area.
Where are you based?
My dog developed mange some months ago. I spent $1,000 at the vet, and meds he gave y dog didn't help much. He lost all his hair, wouldn't eat and could barely hold hid head up. I started researching and as a result I began bathing him with borax and peroxide. Additionally I began feeding him oatmeal with a tiny bit of honey. He finally grew all his hair back and is running around like nothing is wrong. Problem is he won't eat anything but oatmeal which I have to blend until it is like baby food. If I try to feed him anything else he begin to gag and throws it up, along with lots of white foam. However, if I feed him the blended oatmeal he is fine. No throwing up or any discomfort. I want to get him back on regular dog food. Can you help me please?
Thank you very much ginger im a little bit better now, atleast his suffering ends today and he sleep for good... God Bless pet lovers... God bless beautiful people..... God bless us!!!!
I am so very sad to hear that he died. I can feel your pain and grief. Of course you will feel distraught. I know, a beloved dog IS a companion of the highest order. They are a part of us, and of our families.
They are often closer to us than anyone has ever been. I know.
But I can tell how much you loved him, and fought for him. You did-you gave him your best. You couldn't do any more than that.
If you love a dog, you are almost guaranteed to get your heart broken one day.
So why do we do it? Because we can no more turn our backs on the love a dog gives us than try not to breathe. We KNOW that day will come when they will have to go on before us.
Yet as we share with them, we BECOME something different. We become more beautiful, as People. They in their short lives give us that gift.
Remember. Always remember. He gave you that gift. Even if he has had to go on before you.
Hi ginger899 thanks for the response... you are right the vet said all that and i do syrange for feeding and drinking i force him to eat he also take the diuretic tablet.. i cant sleep well for 4 months i always check his condition from time to time but unfortunately he gave up he died october 15 at 3:AM im really sad crying all day i love my dog very much he is not an ordinary dog he is like a human being... when u said that it cause lots of pain my tears flow again :(
Your poor boy. I am sorry he's suffering like this -and so are you.
Did the vet say what he thinks is wrong with him? Did they take the blood test yet?
If your dog has water in his belly, that can be to do with heart, or liver problems, and sometimes it can be connected with a tumor. Many dogs get tumors on the spleen, they are not always cancer, but that can cause a lot of pain, loss of appetite, vomiting etc.
But the fluid build up in his belly is called "ascites" It is not a very good sign, I am sorry to say. But there are things the vet can do to help this possibly. Water tablets (diuretics) can help, take off the excess fluid, and that can often relieve the other symptoms, such as loss of appetite.
I gather you are having to force-feed him? (or feed him with the syringe into his mouth) Oatmeal with dextrose and honey is not bad in an extreme situation like you have. It will help give him some strength. And like you say, it is easily digestible.
Fluids are important for him. Something like low-salt chicken broth (no onion!) will maybe taste nice and he might eat?
But apart from the food, I think you need to get right to the bottom of what is the matter with him, and treat it -if you can.
